A collection of memories with Xulhaz and Tonoy:
This was quite some plan to visit St Martin island in that winter. When I try to recall those days what comes first in my memory line is the Snow White tent house where we stayed overnight. It was almost at the end of the island in a deserted zone. Colorful corals were welcoming us to the shore. The smell of the salty water was all in the air. It was early in the afternoon and we were late when we had to return. Instead of a walk through the island, we took this boat. What were you thinking when I took this photo at that time?
There are not many photographs where you are smiling like this. You had a new haircut on that day. Do you know that this haircut has now become a very popular trend? It was your birthday. And now when I’m writing this, it’s 24 April again. We had a very small party at our place with your close ones. The baker who made the cake wanted to make it squire. But I wanted it to have a heart shape with icing sugar sprinkled on it. Looking at your eyes, I was always shy to whisper ‘I Love You. I Love You’. Were you smiling reading my mind looking into the chocolate cake?
Do you remember our Tanguar Hoar trip? It was hot and humid on that lazy afternoon to a no man’s land near the border. Our boat stopped for a while in a bank surrounded by blue water and we had a small walk into the green cliff. We were exhausted but the serene blue river view from the top of the hill was mesmerizing. In the end, we found a tree with some leaves in it. It created a magical space with light and shadow where the gentle breeze of wind was passing by. I’m planning to go there again next month. Wish you were here.
We went to Teknaf for a trekking in that dry winter. The day before, we thought of going to the Teknaf sea beach, the most beautiful sea beach of Bangladesh. There were no people except some huge boats in the bank. They were painted yellow and green on their edge. Some flags on them here and there. Strong sunshine was reflecting on the sands. We went into the water though none of us knew how to swimming. Did we go into the water holding hands?
I don’t remember the occasion that brought you to my place as you were not visiting me very often. You did not like it for some unknown reason. May be the reason was that it never had sufficient lights. With music and food, I’m sure we were having a good time as usual. Mirrors were reflecting it from wall to wall. The brown and green masks were looking at us. It was you who took most of my photos but now when I look at your images, I can realize that none of us put attention to take your photos. I particularly love this photo for the glowing lite on your face. You are looking so good in this smile. Wear it as always.
This was the first time I went to Boga lake walking seven hours. It was monsoon and we had a plastic sheet instead of raincoats. Late in that pouring afternoon, we thought of having tea in the roadside stall. The sound of raindrops falling on the green leaves was making a continuous pouring sound all through that afternoon. There were no other people on our way. We could only see the rain washed green carpet when we were looking around. Back then I did not know that our paths would be very different.
All of a sudden you thought of growing mustache. It’s not a soothing process as one need to roll it all the time. But you were very passionate about it and what I loved was your passion. You were also growing your hair at that time. Later you had a long hair when we were not in touch. How long was your hair in the end when they slaughtered you in that afternoon?
